Fundraising Manager

Part time (20 hours/week) 

At Rare Disorders New Zealand (RDNZ) we’re passionate about supporting and advocating for the 300,000 people who live with at least one of 7,000 rare disorders that are prevalent in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our ambitious programme of things we intend to do to improve – and save – people’s lives needs to be supported financially by growing and diversifying our sources of income.

For the first time in our twenty five years history we’re going to invest in a regular giving programme, and we’re looking for a Fundraising Manager with the knowledge and experience to get our programme off the ground from scratch, and make it successful.

This is a part time 20 hours per week role which can be based anywhere in the country, although it will be a plus if your preference is to live and work in Wellington. We’re welcoming applications from people with the following experience and attributes:

  • A successful track record in fundraising, especially in developing and managing eDM and regular giving programmes;
  • Sound working knowledge of CRMs;
  • Well-developed promotional and marketing awareness and skills;
  • Results-oriented with an enthusiasm for setting and achieving ambitious financial goals;
  • A warm and engaging personality with excellent internal and external relationship management skills; 
  • Self-motivated with an ability to take ownership of the role, work independently, use initiative, and get things done without requiring close supervision; 
  • Active commitment to RDNZ’s aspiration to be a better Treaty partner, with the ability to reach out to and communicate
    effectively with whānau Māori supporters;
  • Demonstrated ability to reach out to and connect with people from all walks of life across the New Zealand population
  • Commitment to RDNZ’s values, mission and vision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain and grow a database of individual donors (database used is Nation Builder);
  • Establish and manage a new supporters and donors acquisition programme, write a donor journey;
  • Manage relationships and engage with individual donors via multiple channels;
  • Develop integrated campaigns using multiple individual giving channels;
  • When appropriate market a bequest programme, with stewardship by CE and Relationships Manager;
  • As data becomes available, pass on HNWIs who could be stewarded by CE and Relationships Manager for major
    gifts;
  • Be a functional, effective and positively engaged member of the RDNZ staff team.
